School

The Mellen Public School‘s brick and brownstone school building was built in 1910.  The Basil Kennedy gymnasium was added in 1953.  The high school addition was completed in 1968 and the preK-2nd grade addition was completed in 1994.  The school provides a comprehensive education for students in grades Pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade.  Fiber optics, online courses and Advanced Placement classes are available for high school students.  The Elementary School serves approximately 120 students in grades PreK–5 and the Middle School/High School serves approximately 140 students in grades 6–12.

The Mellen School Board is made up of 7 elected community members and meets monthly.  School Board and Committee meeting notices are posted at the school office, City Hall, Northern State Bank, and at Superior Choice Credit Union.  Regular monthly meetings are usually scheduled in the school library on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at 6 p.m.
