Local Municipalities

The City of Mellen is run by the mayor and alderpersons along with other city support personnel. For detailed information about the City of Mellen, go to City Services.

The Town of Morse surrounds the City of Mellen on three sides.  The Town of Morse is home to Lake Galilee, Meder Lake, Long Lake, English Lake, Caroline Lake, Lake Eureka, Beaver Lake, and Copper Falls State Park. The town is a member of Tri-M Sanitary (detailed in the City Services section of this website), the collaborative garbage collection service agreement between Mellen, the Town of Morse and the Town of Ashland.  The Town of Morse has a large Town Hall that can be rented for various meetings and special events.  Monthly meetings are scheduled for the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Morse Town Hall. 

The Town of Ashland is located 2 miles north of the City of Mellen.  The Town of Ashland is a member of Tri-M Sanitary, the collaborative garbage collection service for the area. Monthly meetings are held on the 2nd Tuesday at 7:00pm at the Town of Ashland Town Hall.

Glidden Area Development Corp. (GADC) – Glidden is an unincorporated town located 17 miles south of Mellen in the Town of Jacobs.  Glidden is the Black Bear Capital of Wisconsin and is home to Historic Marion Park. The GADC represents the Towns of Jacobs, Gordon, Peeksville, and Shanagolden.  They work on community projects and encourage growth and tourism in their area.  They have monthly meetings on the 2nd Wednesday of each month @ 6:30 PM at the Jacobs Town Hall (23 N Grant St., Glidden, WI  54527).
