Meet hike leader Mary Stenberg,at the parking lot of the Lake Owen picnic grounds located on Lake Owen Drive, approximately 5 miles south and east of Drummond.
The focus of this hike will be the 4 panels that depict the culture and life of Native Americans who once lived in this area.
The hike will be approximately 3 miles

Saturday June 2, 2018(National Trails Day) 9:00 to Noon
The destination for this hike will bePorcupine Lake/ Porcupine Wilderness Area.
Meet hike leader Tom Matthiae, at Porcupine Lake Parking Area on Porcupine Lake Road(FR 213) about 1.2 miles east of South Lake Owen Drive and hike into the wilderness area. During this slow and meandering hike, participants will look and listen for the many forest songbirds that frequent the area. Total hike time will be 2--3 hours.
PENOKEE MT. BIKE ROAD RACE AND TOUR
Saturday July 28th, 1:00 to 4:00 PM
A hike along the northern boundary of the Brunsweiler River and Mineral Lake State Natural and Research Area is being led by Ellie Williams.
Meet at the Parking Area on Mineral Lake Road,(FR 187) where the north country trail crosses the road, for this 4 mile in and out hike.
This large tract of woodlands is a prime example of a northern mesic forest.
Observation and discussion will focus on the plant life that dominates this specific forest community.
From geology and soils,to trees, shrubs and ground layer, this habitat type will be explored.

Swedish Settlement Hike led by Warren Irle.Participants will meet at the Trail Head Parking Area on Old Grade Road,(FR 202) for a five mile round trip hike.
In route to the Swedish Settlement, hikers will cross the majestic Marengo River and hike to the Juniper Rock Overlook.
Saturday September 22, 2018,( North Country Scenic Trail Day) 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Rainbow Lake Wilderness Hike
This hike is being led by Mel Baughman. Meet at the south boundary trailhead on Reynard Lake Road, west off of Delta-Drummond Road, approximately 5 miles north of Drummond.
Participants will then carpool to the northern boundary of the Rainbow Lake Wilderness on North Delta Road(FR 228) and hike back to the south boundary. This will be 6.4 through hike and will focus on forest ecology and trail design.

Saturday October 20, 2018,. 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
A hike from Snake Trail Road to experience majestic overlooks and beautiful fall colors along the trail.
This hike is being led by Katie LeMoine, Trails Technician with the US Forest Service. Meet Katie at the berm on Snake Trail Road(FR 383).
Participants will walk up the closed road to the NCT, hike west, and then turn around after hiking for 1.5 miles. Katie will answer questions and talk about the 2016 flood damage. This in and out hike will be approximately 4 miles in distance.

RACE ROUTE COURSE DESCRIPTION: Approx. 47 scenic miles of paved roads
the Penokee Range, traversing rolling hills and flat terrain. Additional
services are pace car, two sag cars or trucks and one water station half way
Race will start and finish in city limits.
Route follows Hwy 13 (13 miles) south to Hwy 77 West go 14
to Clam Lake turn right on County Hwy. GG
