Natures Carpet Wildflower Hike
See what's blooming under the forest canopy. Enjoy a family oriented hike on Doughboy's trail with the park naturalist. Hike is 1.7 miles round tripMeet at the pavilion at 10:00AM
Discover Loon Lake Frog Chorus
Learn about frog phenology and why amphibians are important cogs in natures wheel. Park naturalist Diane leads a program ending with hands on exploration along Loon Lakes shore. BYO lawn chair or blanket. Meet at Loon Lake beach.
WHAT TO BRING TO OUR PROGRAMS
Your curiosity, your kids, comfortable shoes and or hat, water bottle, bug spray tick protection,or binoculars. Children should be accompanied by an adult at programs, sorry no pets. The Mellen Congregational UCC will be holding a special "Recognition Sunday" service and dinner to honor Dave and Elanor Johnson for their contributions and service to the church and the community. on Sunday June 23, 2019. The entire community is invited. The service starts at 11:00 and a meal will follow.

EXPLORE A NATIONAL SCENIC TRAIL


Have you ever hiked on a National Scenic Trail? Here is your chance. Join members of the Chequamegon Chapter of the North Country Trail Association as they lead a variety of hikes in 2019.


Saturday July 27, 2010, 9:00AM to NooN Hidden lake Hike
Meet hike leader, Mary Stenberg, at the parking area where the North Country Trail crosses the Delta Drummond Road, approximately 3 miles north of Drummond.
hike east along this scenic section of the trail where you pass 3 small inland lakes-Mirror Esox and Overby.
this will be a 3.6 mile round trip hike.
Participants will have the option of walking 1 way, For only 1.8 miles, and then catch a shuttle back to the parking area, if they choose.

4. Saturday August 24, 2019, 1:00PM-4:00PM: Youth Hike
Meet hike leader, Cheryl Trieschman, at the Lake Three Campground parking area on Mineral Lake Road(FR187) where participants will hike east in search of plants, animals, bugs, and birds.
You never know what you may find in a walk in the woods. Cheryl plans on making this in and out hike a fun learning adventure.

5. Saturday September 28, 2019,

1:00PM-4:00Pm
Meet hike leader Ellie Williams, at the copper Falls state Park Pavillion to start a 3-4 mile hike north along the NCT into the pristine Copper falls State natural Area.


Participants will need a state park sticker. Parking is available at the pavilion parking lot.

Come early to help the Chequamegon Chapter celebrate North Country Scenic trail Day and Friends of Copper Falls State Park's Fall Festival.

Directions from Hurley: Take Hwy 77 west beyond Upson, 3 miles to Casey Sag Road, turn right(North) go 2.75 miles to trailhead. Hike will be 3.5 miles. Visit Gold Mine and Overlook of the Penokees. This will be a 2 way hike.

Looking to give money to Holy Rosary Church in memory of a loved one. Holy Rosary has established a STAINED GLASS MEMORIAL FUND.
No amount is too small or large. However with a donation of $100 or more, a name plaque will be inscribed with the name of your choice.

1969 Reunion

Mellen High Class will have a 50 year reunion on July 5th at Copper Ridge starting at 2pm


BOX TOPS


The Mellen school will again be collecting Box Tops for the 2018-2019 school year.
Collection sites include Northland Foods, SCCU, Northern State Bank, Dollar General and the school. Your labels become money to help purchase equipment and supplies for the entire Mellen School.

NOTICE TRI-M SANITARY RECYCLING CUSTOMERS


Effective immediately, tires must be removed from all metal brought into Tri-M for recycling.
items such as bikes, lawn mowers, etc., will not be accepted unless the tires are removed.
Tires can be disposed of for a variable fee; rate is determined by tire size.
Tri-M Sanitary/Recycling will hold their regular monthly meeting on Monday Jan. 14, 2019 at 6:15 PM in the office/ conference room at the Tri-M building.

PENOKEE MOUNTAIN RANGE CLASSIC BIKE ROAD RACE & Tour

An award ceremony will be held at the school following the race. No awards will be mailed. TIMING: Wisport RJ Ochmann RACE ROUTE COURSE DESCRIPTION: Approximately 47 miles of paved roads through the Penokee Range, traversing rolling hills and flat terrain. Additional services are pace car, 2 sag wagons, and water station. Ashland Co. and Mellen Police Depts. helping when and where necessary. Great Divide and Mellen Ambulances on call. School bus on standby for inclement weather. Free lunch after race. The ADRC of the North will be sponsoring a Memory Cafe every first Thursday of the month from 3:30 to 4:30 PM.
The Memory Cafe is for those who are concerned about memory loss, their care partners and those who are living with early memory loss.
